Are you being intentional?

I value family time. I am fortunate to have my husbands family near by, but my family are all based in NZ. But last week my mum and dad (step-dad) were visiting – imagine me jumping for joy and doing a crazy happy dance right now. So as I sat there awake at midnight one night during their stay, because I’d had too much sugar, I could hear snoring and deep breathing and people stirring in their sleep and I felt so content.

I miss my family. I love my life, I love where I live, but to connect and have face time, it is priceless.

With such fast paced and full lives, people today seem to be too tired to make time to just be, be with family, friends, themselves. Learning to stop and take in a moment, a conversation, an experience. We don’t do it enough. It needs to be intentional, considered (although spontaneoty can be fantastic), we must be emotionally present, not just physically. Time is as precious as the person there with you. Recognize the value in them. I am guilty myself of trying to capture a moment for social media rather than actually being in the moment, I become a spectator instead of a participator and everyone misses out.

This visit we made intentional plans, we went whale watching and they put on a fantastic display for us, I was like a kid at Christmas. We enjoyed meals with friends and family so they had a chance to know who is in our world here in Australia. We laughed together, we talked about our next visit together.

Who do you need to pick up the phone and call and plan to have time with them? Who’s in the house with you that you need to switch everything off and give your undivided attention too? When did you have a real conversation and share some of your heart with someone?

Be intentional, be purposeful, be engaged and don’t put it off another day.

  1. I’m not certain where you are getting your information, but great topic. I needs to spend a while finding out much more or figuring out more. Thank you for wonderful info I used to be in search of this info for my mission.

  2. You really make it appear really easy together with your presentation however I find this matter to be really one thing that I believe I might never understand. It sort of feels too complicated and extremely large for me. I’m taking a look ahead for your subsequent submit, I’ll attempt to get the grasp of it!

    1. Hi Alex, thanks for your comment. As I mentioned I have often caught myself not being in the moment with those with me. It causes me to assess my habits and make changes. It doesn’t have to be complicated, just invite someone over for a coffee and get rid of all other distractions. It’s about planning some things into your world. Don’t try and change or do everything at once. Just one moment at a time. All the best.

  3. You can certainly see your skills within the paintings you write. The world hopes for even more passionate writers like you who aren’t afraid to say how they believe. Always go after your heart.
